Enabling Passcode Lock on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch is good security measure you can take to keep your device away from unauthorized access. It will prevent others to access your device in your absence, if you do have some personal and private data on your iOS device. I will show you, step by step, how to enable passcode lock on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Note that, in my this tutorial i will be using iPad to demonstrate it, but this method works on all iOS devices.
Instructions to Enable/Set Passcode Lock on iOS devices
STEP 1. To get started, First tap the Settings App on your Home Screen.
STEP 2. Now Tap on General Tab, and then Passcode Lock
STEP 3. Now just tap on the “Turn Passcode on“, and set your four digit passcode.

Now once you enable the passcode successfully, you will asked to enter your passcode whenever you:
- Restart your device
- Unlock your screen
- wake up your device
You have to be very careful, while choosing your passcode lock, i would recommend you to use simpler passcodes, it is because if you forget your passcode and enter the wrong code more than 6 times, then you are going to lose temporary access to your device.
