Drones also are known as Quadcopters or UAVs (Unmanned aerial vehicle) are quite popular in 2017-18 for aerial photography.
There are quite a few drones manufacturers including DJI, Yuneec, Parrot, and 3DR. DJI is dominating the drone market because of its wide range drones from Portable, Professional and industrial use.
If you’re looking to buy a good drone, PGB has made a video review of the best-selling drones in 2017-18 for drone enthusiasts.
You can watch the best drones reviews videos from Progeeksblog below:
Best drones UK 2017-18
Here are the top-rated drones one can buy.
1. DJI Mavic Pro Review
DJI is indeed dominating the drone market because of its variety of drones for all level of users and industries. Mavic Pro is indeed the best portable drone with 4K camera stabilized by 3-axis mechanical gimbal that records at 30fps.
I have tried my best to cover every part and detail in my Mavic drone review; from design to hardware and the features it offers and how far it is good in comparisons with similar drones in the market like GoPro Karma.
Mavic has the best industrial design out of all drones I have reviewed so far from other competitors. Before the release of Spark, it was the smallest camera drone available. In my opinion, it is the best portable drone having all the essential features a good quadcopter should have. You can easily fit in any bag if you travel a lot with its pocket-size remote controller.
Mavic controller is simple and easy-to-use. You can download the official DJI Go 4 free app from Android and iOS Store to mount your smartphone and control of your drone using your phone. The operating range is 7km which is awesome and I have seen people using it more than its range without any issues. Mavic has good flying speed and flies at the top speed of 65 miles an hour.
The camera on the Mavic Pro is 12-megapixel that can shoot smooth 4k videos at 30 frames per and crystal clear aerial photos. Without any doubt, it is one of the top-rated cameras on a drone and I hope you’ve already seen some Mavic sample videos on YouTube.
Now coming to the software experience on the Mavic is not bad either. Mavic is powered with some good features like the Flight Autonomy which is a fantastic feature to avoid your drone from crashing as it front-facing sensors automatically avoid obstacles from 15-meter away while flying at a speed of 22 miles per hour. There are quite a few intelligent flight modes like the “Beginner’s mode”, “Auto-land”, “Return to home”, “Active track”, “Tap fly”, “Tripod mode” “Cinematic” and some good gesture modes to capture selfies.
Mavic is packed with a 3800Mah battery which gives an average of 25 minutes of battery life; which is pretty good when compared against similar drones in the same price range. However, I would always recommend having a couple of batteries in your bag to avoid any issues.
DJI recently announced an upgraded version which is called Mavic Pro Platinum. Platinum model is having the same design, camera, sensors, features but it has newly designed propellers technology which improves the battery life to 30 minutes and reduces the noise.
It is the best option if you travel a lot. You can easily buy this drone in the United Kingdom under £1000.
2. Phantom 4 Advance
Phantom 4 Advance should be your next option if portability is not an issue for you. Having some advanced tracking features as compared to Mavic pro and good quality camera even in low lightning makes it 2nd of my list of top-rated drones one should buy.
P4 advance is a good quadcopter for professional and commercial use.
3. DJI Inspire 2
Nothing comes close to the aerial supremacy of Inspire 2. Inspire 2 is a beast and best drone for professional movie makers for commercial use. If budget is not an issue, then Inspire 2 drone should be your ultimate choice.
Having 5.2K video recording capability and more advanced obstacle avoidance system makes it the best consumer drone on my list.
4. Phantom 3
Phantom 3 is a good choice for budget users who would still want to enjoy all the essential features of a drone at a cheaper price.
5. DJI Spark
Spark is the most intelligent and a good drone for beginners. Having all the essential features and useful gestures commands makes it to my list.
You can buy easily buy it under £500 but you’ll have to pay a bit more if you want to add some additional functionality.
6. Yuneec Typhoon H Pro
Yuneec is the only drone manufacturer that is somehow competing with DJI. Without a doubt, their products are also worth the try and do sell some high-end drones with a good price.
Yuneec Typhoon H Pro is one of the best 4k drones you can buy in the UK but it is not cheap!
Note: The UK civil aviation authority regulates the use of unmanned aircraft. It is therefore recommended before buying and flying a quadcopter, make sure that you understand and follow the rules and regulations that apply to you.
